This visionary and innovative enrichment and bridge program is designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Our cohort will build the cognitive, emotional, and physical endurance to secure gainful employment within an inclusive work culture, while receiving organizational support from the KennedyStrong Foundation.
The Program
The Let’s Go to Work! program operates on a full-day, 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday schedule. Some cohort members may transition into the program on a part-time to full-time basis within 6-8 weeks, if selected.
All cohort members are expected to:
- Be 18 years of age or older at the time the program begins;
- Completed a high school program; and
- Possess the desire to gain full-time employment in an inclusive culture.
Program participation includes:
- Create/Develop a Hydroponic Garden
- On-Site Training and Internships
- Enhance Employment Specific Self-Advocacy Skills
- Participant-Led Roadmap to Inclusive Employment
Let’s Go To Work! is made possible through a partnership with University City United Methodist Church, located at 3835 West WT Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28269.
UCUMC will host our program, and the location grants access to Charlotte’s primary transportation corridors, reducing friction for cohort members and caregivers.
